DESCRIPTION:Mondays\, November 30th-December 21st at 6:30-7:30PM via Zoom. \nSeeing the Word: Illuminating Advent is a contemplative prayer practice using illuminations from the St John’s Bible. These images bring to life passages from Scripture\, helping us to engage with the Word\, encounter the Divine\, and enact the Message in our daily lives. \nAdvent honors the time of waiting for the arrival of the Christ child. We gather each week in hope\, peace\, joy and love to meet the Messiah who is – and is yet to come – through guided reflections. The illuminations from the Saint John’s Bible\, which reflect scripture readings for the season\, draw us further into contemplative prayer. As we open “the eyes of our heart” (visio divina) and “the ears of our heart” (lectio divina)\, we discover what the Word means to us and what the Holy Spirit is calling us to do in the world today. \nThe Saint John’s Bible is the first of its kind in 500 years. Commissioned by the Benedictine monks at St. John’s Abbey\, as a tribute to the new millennium\, this handwritten NRSV Bible has over 160 illuminations to bring the Word of God to life today. DESCRIPTION:An invitation to reflect\, to imagine\, and be inspired \nDuring this seasonal quiet day we will think of autumn as the “ebb tide” of the present year\, and of our lives in general. Ebb tide can be a time of waning and receding\, but also a time of change and opportunity. \nUsing scripture\, poetry\, music and silence\, we will listen for God’s voice. We will explore the gifts of nature through contemplative photography. Please bring a camera (or use your cell phone.) Finally\, we will reflect on the day’s blessings in conversation. \nPLEASE REGISTER at https://rhseason5.eventbrite.com. All are welcome! \nA light breakfast and lunch will be served. A suggested donation of $40 per person will be gratefully accepted and a portion of the proceeds is used for program scholarships. DESCRIPTION:Please join us to celebrate the sacred in nature and receive the gift of quiet renewal. This is the perfect time to return to the Journey\, come for the first time\, or to explore with a friend. \nWe will spend a few minutes in the Herb Garden to see and touch mint\, chamomile\, sage\, lavender\, sweet grass and other herbs thriving in the spring sunshine. \nLocal gardener and aromatherapist Elaine Hoggard will be with us to share about each herb’s healing properties as we welcome the fragrance in our breathing meditation. \nWe will enjoy the refreshment of an herb-infused ice tea in a ceremony to say good-bye until our monthly gathering begins again in the fall. \nLight snacks will be available. Although there is no fee for this retreat\, a suggested donation of $30 would be gratefully accepted and will be used to offer programs to other Sisters who wish to be on this Journey. All are welcome! \n
