DESCRIPTION:Church of the Holy Trinity\nOxford\, Maryland \nWednesday\, April 17: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.\, Lunch and Conversation\n  \n  \n  \nWe gratefully offer this conversation in collaboration with Church of the Holy Trinity\, Oxford. \nJoin us with Dorothy Linthicum and explore notions of prevention\, the basics of a diagnosis\, and the hope found in possibilities. Whether you are a family or community member\, a caregiver\, or a pastoral leader\, this topic is universally vulnerable. How can we help one another face the diagnosis of dementia in our families\, among friends\, or in ourselves? \nBrené Brown writes: “Vulnerability is the birthplace of love\, belonging\, joy\, courage\, empathy\, and creativity. It is the source of hope\, empathy\, accountability\, and authenticity.” Let us be reminded of the power of vulnerability\, not to be avoided\, but embraced\, and in embracing taking a first step toward easing our fears. \nWe will explore how the self is never destroyed despite the severity of a disease or condition\, an understanding that comes from many fields\, including psychology\, neurology\, psychiatry\, philosophy\, and spirituality\, among others. Dorothy is co-author\, along with Janice Hicks\, of Redeeming Dementia: Spirituality\, Theology\, and Science. DESCRIPTION:Spirituality and Aging\nWednesday Afternoon \nOctober 25th\n3:00 pm – 4:30 pm\nThe Church of the Holy Trinity\nOxford\, Maryland\n\n in person and online\n\n\nPlease join us and explore spirituality and aging with Dorothy Linthicum. All are welcome\, whether you are journeying with a loved one or are an older adult yourself.  We will explore what spirituality might be like for older adults and how spiritual practice in everyday life can enrich and deepen the aging process\, including the process of death and dying. How can spiritual practices guide us and our loved ones to tap into the ultimate meaning in our lives? Additionally\, the speaker will share with us questions to ponder and spiritual practices for use after the presentation\, both individually and/or in community.\nRegistration fee/suggested donation: $25. Dorothy is a passionate and well-practiced formation guide\, speaker\, and co-author of Redeeming Dementia: Spirituality\, Theology\, and Science\, with Janice Hicks\, for caregivers and people facing dementia.
