Whether you are a family or community member\, a caregiver\, or a pastoral leader\, this topic is universally vulnerable. How can we help one another face the diagnosis of dementia in our families\, among friends\, or in ourselves? \nBrené Brown writes: “Vulnerability is the birthplace of love\, belonging\, joy\, courage\, empathy\, and creativity. It is the source of hope\, empathy\, accountability\, and authenticity.” Let us be reminded of the power of vulnerability\, not to be avoided\, but embraced\, and in embracing taking a first step toward easing our fears. \nWe will explore how the self is never destroyed despite the severity of a disease or condition\, an understanding that comes from many fields\, including psychology\, neurology\, psychiatry\, philosophy\, and spirituality\, among others.
