I was scratching around in the ashes of my Christian faith two decades ago when a friend suggested that I read Quotidian Mysteries: Laundry, Liturgy and “Women’s Work” by Kathleen Norris.
In less than 100 pages Norris helped me see how God is present in the most mundane tasks of daily living. A Protestant lay woman who is also an associate of a Benedictine monastery, Norris writes essays, memoirs and poetry that show how spiritual enrichment is available in monastic silence and in a sink full of dirty dishes.
