Then we take turns sharing what bubbles up and listen to each other’s reflections. It’s an hour of friendly companionship–no commitment\, no charge. My life depends on engaging the most ordinary physical activities with the most exquisite attention I can give them. My life depends on ignoring all touted distinctions between the secular and the sacred\, the physical and the spiritual\, the body and the soul. What is saving my life now is becoming more fully human\, trusting that there is no way to God apart from real life in the real world.” \n  \nAcclaimed author and pastor\, Barbara Brown Taylor in An Altar in the World: A Geography of Faith\, shares stories about her encounter with God far beyond the walls of the church and how we might discover the Holy in our complex world. Using the book as our reference\, we will invite the author’s work to guide our exploration as we notice the sacred in the small things we do and see\, from simple practices such as walking\, working\, and prayer. Daily chores can become an act of meditation if we pay attention and take the time to notice. Soon we begin to discover altars everywhere we go\, in nearly everything we do. \n  \n\n\n\n\nJoin Mary Carol Tazewell\, Francie Thayer\, Heather Strang\, and friends for this retreat journey as we learn together from the stories and try out new spiritual practices.
