Stories are a principal way we can grasp the parts of our lives that are mystery. The writer John Shea wrote— “We turn our pain into narrative so we can bear it. We turn our ecstasy into narrative so we can prolong it. We tell our stories to live.” \nThe objective of this course is to see what story has to tell us about our own journey of faith. We will use a text of autobiographical narratives: Searching for Your Soul: Writers of Many Faiths  \nShare Their Personal Stories of Spiritual Discovery\, edited by Katherine Kurs. I like the wide range of religious backgrounds and orientations in this book because the variety enables us to see our own story more clearly. The primary task is to let the stories and poems sink into your mind and heart so that they can enable you to rediscover the depths of your own story.
