Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Moms! I think it is very important that
we set aside a whole day to honor and to say “thank you” to all the mothers that
sacrifice so much for their children.
On this Mother’s Day I want to personally say thank you to my mom who is the
most amazing, funny, beautiful, selfless mother. My mother has never cared
about worldly things such as presents, flowers, and cards. Instead, all she cares
about is having all of her “babies” (who are now all above the age of 25), together
with her on Mother’s Day. The only thing she asks for is having the four of her
children together. She wants to see the smiles, laughs, and energy that she
created.
I find it funny that when you are born you rely completely on your mother and
with each passing day you become a little bit more independent. Yet, at my age of
26 each passing day I feel more and more dependent on my mother. As a kid and
into my teenage years I fought so hard to be independent and be my own person.
I put on a “I don’t need my mother” persona. Now, still independent, still my own
person, but totally and completely “I need my mother!”. Who else would I call at
3AM because I have a fever; who else will go run errands with me until we have
wasted an entire day shopping; who else can I call and talk to for hours a day;
who else will listen to me cry, laugh and scream without judging me; who else
would accept me for being me? Every day I wake up and every day I go to sleep, I
thank God for blessing me with my amazing mother (and my father of course but
today is Mother’s Day – haha sorry Dad). I feel so very blessed every day for
another day I get to spend with her and the years we have gotten to share
together.
On this day it makes my heart ache for the daughters that never got to experience
these things with their own mothers, or the years that got cut too short. It makes
my heart ache for the mothers who have lost a child. It makes my heart ache for
the women who fight so hard to be mothers and for those who are not able. I
know my mother is thankful and happy to spend the day with her four healthy
children that made her a mother, but at the same time I know a part of her aches
for all the Mother’s Days that she didn’t get to celebrate with her own mother. So
today, I want to celebrate all of the Mothers, the birth mothers, adoptive
mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, mother in laws, your best friend’s mother,
work mothers, grieving mothers, aspiring mothers and all the mothers that have
walked in and absolutely blessed our lives! Thank you to all of the beautiful
women out there!
Happy Mother’s Day!
